Pastor Ken Reporting – July 12, 2018

I am very excited about how well our 3rd Annual Block Party went last Sunday. We had 194 children registered to pick-up backpacks and school supplies. That number does not include the children’s parents or church members who came to enjoy the event. Some fun numbers of things given away at the event: 102 Swiss Gear Backpacks, 42 children’s backpacks, 27 Adventist Education shoulder backpacks, 200 school supply sets, over 300 hot dogs, and more than 400 snow cones. I was also very pleased that Pathfinders, Adventurers, Madison Academy, and Madison Campus Elementary School all reported that families were very interested in finding out more information about them.
I want to thank each of you who supported this event, but more importantly supported our mission to love God, love people, and serve the world. I want to say a special thank you to April Van Appeldorn and Pastor Nacho who coordinated the event!

We are just a little over a week away from our special series, “We All Have Hope,” by Roger Hernandez. If you haven’t registered, I would encourage you to do so. We are asking all members and guests to register, even if they are only coming for one evening. The series is every evening from July 21 through July 27, and the final meeting is during our church service on July 28. On Sabbath, July 28, there will be no first service and Sabbath school will start at 10 am with our church service beginning at 11 pm.
Roger Hernandez’s message and share cards are available in the sanctuary foyer to invite your friends and neighbors. Here is a link to register:
We still need volunteers to help with the series. Children’s Program needs volunteers, please contact Kimberly King at 615-483-2567 if you are willing to help. Parking & Security needs volunteers, please contact Bill Ross at 314-374-1367 if you can help.

Wednesday, July 18, we will be having our annual church social at Wave Country. Admission is free. Invite your friends and neighbors.
Every week we have gracious groups of church members that provide a lunch for visitors in the fellowship hall. Generally, we have between 10-20 visitors and so we ask these groups to be prepared for that number of people. If you are a church member, we kindly request that you not attend these meals unless you are a part of the team providing the meal so that there is enough food for our visitors. If you would like to join a host group that provides lunch for visitors, please contact Rose Mays at Our next all church potlucks are on July 28and  August 11. For the all church potlucks, please bring enough food to feed your family and another family.
Are you ready for Jesus to come?  Are your friends and neighbors?  MCC is providing truth to 1,830 of our Hendersonville friends/neighbors with this, our 8th order for zip 37075.   (11,704 books total, so far, or 42%.) Please pray the Holy Spirit will accompany each of these 1,830 books.

Celebrate Recovery needs additional folks who could help provide child care on Monday evenings.  We have folks attending who need to bring their children with them, and the child care you can provide would go a long way toward their road to recovery.  Even if you can only help in this area one week a month, you would be making a huge impact in the lives of the children as well as the CR attendee. Please contact Dan Davis, 615-202-4839 for more details.
If you’re a young adult, please remember to follow us on FB on Compass (Madison Young Adults).

But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.
2 Corinthians 3:18 (NASB)
By beholding we are changed. As Seventh-day Adventists, we often think of this in the context of by beholding Jesus we become changed and that is absolutely what the text above means. However, have you ever thought that by beholding you, others become changed? When a world that doesn’t know Jesus or has a bad image of Him look at you, do they see the real Jesus shining through?
As the scripture says, “But how can they call on Him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in Him if they have never heard about Him? And how can they hear about Him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, ‘How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!'” Romans 10:14-15 (NLT)
If we want our community, our city, our nation, and our world to be transformed, the transformation must begin with us. We must behold Jesus and allow the Holy Spirit to transform us. As we do this, our community, city, nation, and world will have the opportunity to behold Jesus at work in us. “And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw  all peoples to Myself.” John 12:32 (NKJV)
Remember to live our mission. Love God. Love people. Serve the world.

God’s blessings,

Pastor Ken
