Pastor Ken Reports – August 1, 2019

But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.
John 1:12-13 (NLT)
Wow! Last Sabbath was amazing. We had a great turnout for the screening of Southern Adventist University’s, Belly of the Whale and a packed church for our guest artist, Jimmy Wayne. Thank you so much for bringing your friends, co-workers, and family. I have heard so many great stories this week about the positive reactions our guests had to coming to Madison Campus and how many of them are planning to come back again. Here’s what one guest wrote on their guest information card, “You have an awesome church, it seems balanced for the entire family.”
Another great outcome was your generosity for Jimmy Wayne’s charity, Rhema Outreach. Over $3000 was collected in the offering and Jimmy added to that his speaker’s fee so that Rhema will be getting a check for almost $5000. Here is an excerpt from an email I received from Jimmy this week. “Ken, it was truly an honor speaking at your church for your wonderful congregation and those who visited. I hope they were inspired enough to come back. Jackie really enjoyed her time there as well. We both look forward to coming back.” I have had a number of people ask about Jimmy’s autobiography. If you are interested, it is titled, “Walk to Beautiful,” and can be found on Amazon and other book stores.
Are you ready for another great Sabbath?! Check out “One Big Thing.”
By the way…today is my mom’s birthday. Happy birthday mom!
This Friday night be sure to come and watch, Hell and Mr. Fudge, with your friends, neighbors, and co-workers. This award winning movie tells the true story of a pastor who is hired to investigate if there is an everlasting, eternal hell. Following the movie there will be a panel made up from our pastoral staff. The audience will have the opportunity to ask questions.
I am very excited to be baptizing Justin and Heather Whitaker at the end of first service this Sabbath. Justin and Heather have completed a year of Bible studies and have chosen to be baptized and join the Madison Campus Church.
Your pastoral staff will all be preaching for first and second service. Our theme is Centered on Jesus from Start to Finish. Each one of the pastors will be taking an aspect of our life journey and talking about how to be Centered on Jesus. This is a great opportunity for visitors to hear all our pastors.
There will be sign-ups for our Better Life Groups in the main lobby before and after the movie Friday night and during both church services as well as Sabbath school. We have 25 Better Life Groups that range from marriage enrichment to sports activities. Be sure to sign-up for a group that will make your life better.
Don’t forget that we have an all church potluck following second service. Please bring plenty of food so we can feed all the guests we are expecting!
We continue to ask for your support for a much needed renovation of our church. The renovation will particularly focus on our sanctuary and accessibility for those with disabilities. To date we have received $837,000 in donations and pledges. Thank you so much for your generosity as we continue toward our $2.5 million goal.
BACK TO SCHOOL DEDICATION: Next Sabbath our church services will focused on asking God’s blessings on the upcoming school year for all the students, teachers, staff, and families in our church. This is a great opportunity to invite friends and neighbors to church as we pray for everyone involved in education this school year.

403 COMMUNITY SERVICES: The 403 Center is thriving and it’s because of you! Thank you for all the donations! We are always looking for resalable items to help the community. How can you determine if your item should be donated? If it is in good, clean and working order, then please donate. Thank you for remembering we cannot accept items such as chemicals, dirty clothing, items needing repair or missing parts as it costs the center to discard these items. 403 is currently in need of baby and children’s clothing. We appreciate you!

PRAYING CHURCH: Ellen White once wrote: ” The descent of the Holy Spirit upon the church is looked forward to as in the future; but it is the privilege of the church to have it now. Seek for it, pray for it, believe it, We must have it, and Heaven is waiting to bestow it.” (The Review and Herald, March 19, 1895). “No great spiritual awakening has began anywhere in the world apart from united prayer Christians persistently praying for revival.” (J. Edwin Orr, historian on worldwide revivals). Let us take advantage of the gift we’ve been given, the privilege of corporate prayer. Prayer Meeting is every Wednesday, 6-7 PM, in Room #109. “When the way is prepared for the Spirit of God, the blessings will come.” (E.G.W., Selected Messages, 124)
CHILDREN’S PRAISE TIME: Children’s Chapel Praise Time happens each week for Primary through Juniors. It is a time for kids to lead others in singing for about 10-15 minutes before individual classes begin. We will not be meeting in July, but will resume in August. We would love for more children and adults to help lead out! New teams will be formed by August. Call or text Cindy Boskind @ 615-945-2528 to form a new group or to be added to a group!

Tithe & Offering
Tithe is the 10% of our increase that we give to God to support His work in this world. These monies are used to pay pastors, evangelists, chaplains, Bible workers, and missionaries. It also pays for the salaries of those who provide support for those people and for expenses that help support evangelism. We are behind where we were last year at this time in our tithe giving. Through the end of June, Madison Campus has returned $946,747.96 compared to last year’s $1,052,274.10.
Monies donated to church budget are to be given in addition to tithe. Our church budget funds ministry in our community such as Madison Campus Elementary, Madison Academy, Pathfinders, Adventurers, our annual Block Party, our music ministries, Adventist Community Services (the 403 Center), Bags of Love, Celebrate Recovery, and Adventist literature that can be distributed. It also pays for the upkeep and utilities for our church facility and our church administrator. Thank you for your generosity that has put our budget ahead of where we were at this time last year and helps us do ministry and keep our church open.
