Pastor Ken Reports – December 24, 2019

But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah,
are only a small village among all the people of Judah.
Yet a ruler of Israel,
whose origins are in the distant past,
will come from you on my behalf.
Micah 5:2 (NLT)
Merry (early) Christmas! Come out this evening and celebrate the true Reason for the season with members of your church family. The tenth annual candlelight Christmas Eve program will be held in the sanctuary at 6:00 pm tonight, Tuesday, December 24. Come sing beloved Christmas carols and hear the Christmas story read from Scripture. Hope to see you there!
There will be no first service this coming Sabbath, December 28. Sabbath school will be at its normal time of 10:10 am and our church service will be at 11:20 am. We will be having a special communion service that we will celebrate as a united family to close out this year. I know there is the temptation to skip communion Sabbaths but I really want to encourage you to attend as I believe God has a special blessing for you in the celebration of communion.
We are almost at the end of our official fundraising for the renovation of our Father’s house. Based on the money donated and pledged so far we have already begun working with our team to plan the renovations. Right now, our plan is to start renovations May 17. The reason we are waiting until May is that there will be a number of weeks that we will not be able to use the sanctuary. There are two Sabbaths in May when we do not have church due to the Kentucky-Tennessee Conference camp meeting. We want to take advantage of that natural break.
While we have nearly funded all of our first priority goals, if we want to complete our second priority goals there is still another $1 million left that we need to raise. Thank you so much for your generosity in helping us meet our first priority goals and I look forward to seeing how many of the second priority goals we can also complete. If you haven’t already made a pledge or donation I would invite you to do so.

WHEN GOD’S PEOPLE PRAY: “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we asked of Him.” (1 John 5:14-15)
