Pastor Ken Reports – January 3, 2020

hey are like trees planted along a riverbank,
with roots that reach deep into the water.
Such trees are not bothered by the heat
or worried by long months of drought.
Their leaves stay green,
and they never stop producing fruit.
Jeremiah 17:8 (NLT)
Welcome to 2020! Our theme at Madison Campus Church for this year is “Thrive.” Above is our logo and theme verse. Many thanks to Corbin Rosenthal who created our amazing logo for this year.
We chose the theme of “Thrive” because it flows out of our “Centered” theme from 2019. Once you are centered, you are ready to thrive. I am really looking forward to unpacking this theme with you during 2020. We will start this Sabbath as we examine Jeremiah 17:8 and see the real reason why we need to thrive and how to go about thriving.
Sabbath, January 11 is an Outreach Sabbath. Would you invite someone who doesn’t normally attend Madison Campus to attend our services? Multiple studies have shown that well over 60% of people who do not attend church regularly say that would go if invited by a friend or acquaintance.
Our worship services on January 11 will feature Cole Marcus at 8:50 and 11:20 am and he will also be featured in our youth Sabbath school at 10:10 am. Cole is a Seventh-day Adventist actor who recently costarred in the hit movie, “I Can Only Imagine.” Cole has an amazing testimony of remaining faithful to his beliefs in a Hollywood culture that doesn’t make it easy to truly Thrive as a Christian. Cole will be speaking at Madison Campus Elementary and Madison Academy Friday morning, January 10 and will be having a vespers at the Madison Academy chapel at 6 pm. We will be screening “I Can Only Imagine” at 6:30 pm Saturday evening in the church fellowship hall. After the movie Cole will be having a Question and Answer session.
January 13-18 is our annual church week of prayer. Each member of the pastoral staff will be taking a different night which will be based off our theme for 2020. There is a free supper that starts at 6:00 pm and the worship thought will begin at 6:30 pm. We will be done every evening by 7 pm. Please put this on your calendar as it is a great way to start the year together as a family.
CHURCH RENOVATION: I have had a lot of people ask me what the final number is for our church renovation. We are still receiving checks in the mail and pledges so we are not quite ready to reveal the final number. We will make that announcement on Sabbath, January 11.

WHEN GOD’S PEOPLE PRAY: “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we asked of Him.” (1 John 5:14-15) It is a wonderful thing to have a friend praying for you! It is a wonderful thing to have a husband or wife praying for you! It is a wonderful thing to have a parent praying for you! It is a wonderful thing to have a son or daughter praying for their mom and dad! It is a wonderful thing to know that someone is praying for you!  “We do not value the power and efficacy of prayer as we should. Prayer and faith will do what no power on earth can accomplish.” (Ministry of Healing, p. 509) WE WILL MEET AGAIN FOR PRAYER MEETING AFTER THE HOLIDAYS AND WEEK OF PRAYER.
COMMUNITY SERVICE: Colder temperatures are here! Time to break out the coats! Speaking of coats…the 403 Center is in need of men’s, women’s and children’s coats as well as warm blankets. The chill in the air can be difficult to handle without a warm coat or blanket. Thank you for remembering the 403 and those who receive assistance there, in your prayers. Happy Sabbath!
