Pastor Ken Reports – January 10, 2020

For I am about to do something new.
See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?
I will make a pathway through the wilderness.
I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.
Isaiah 43:19 (NLT)
What we need are pathways in the wilderness and rivers in a dry wasteland. As humans we tend to think we are capable of creating these pathways and rivers but the truth is, only God can perform the miracles we really need for these tasks. If we are going to THRIVE in 2020 then we need God to perform miracles for us.
Last Sabbath I shared our acronymn for THRIVE:
  • Transformation
  • Health
  • Reading
  • Inclusion
  • Volunteer
  • Evaluate
Next Monday at 6 pm we will begin our annual week of prayer. Each night we will be encouraging and equipping you in your 2020 THRIVE Challenge. God wants you THRIVE this year. I am looking forward to hearing all the miracles He will do in 2020!
This Sabbath, January 11 is an Outreach Sabbath. Ken, would you invite someone who doesn’t normally attend Madison Campus to attend our services? Did you know that multiple studies have shown that well over 60% of people who do not attend church regularly say that would go if invited by a friend or acquaintance? I really believe that statistic is true because I’ve invited three people and two out of the three are planning to be at at least one of the events on Sabbath and I’m hopeful the third will be there as well.
Our worship services on January 11 will feature Cole Marcus at 8:50 and 11:20 am and he will also be featured in our youth Sabbath school at 10:10 am. Cole is a Seventh-day Adventist actor who recently costarred in the hit movie, “I Can Only Imagine.” Cole has an amazing testimony of remaining faithful to his beliefs in a Hollywood culture that doesn’t make it easy to truly Thrive as a Christian.
  • Cole will be having a vespers at the Madison Academy chapel at 6 pm tonight.
  • He will be joining our worship team to provide music for both services and I will be interviewing him during both services tomorrow.
  • There will be an all-church potluck following 2nd service where you can meet Cole. Please bring enough food to feed your family and guests.
  • We will be screening “I Can Only Imagine” at 6:30 pm Saturday evening in the church fellowship hall. After the movie Cole will be having a Question and Answer session.
January 13-18 is our annual church week of prayer. Each member of the pastoral staff will be taking a different night which will be based off our theme for 2020. There is a free supper that starts at 6:00 pm and the worship thought will begin at 6:30 pm. We will be done every evening by 7 pm. Please come start the year off in a great way with your family!
There will be a church business meeting at 5 pm, Saturday, January 25 to approve the church budget for 2020.
Sabbath, January 25, is our annual Celebrate Recovery Sabbath. The CR team are planning an inspiring program that will be a blessing to you and your family.
ALL CHURCH POTLUCK: We will be having an all church potluck tomorrow, January 11. Please bring enough food to feed your family and guests!
2020 (2ND ANNUAL) MCC MISSION SURVEY: In January of 2019 we did a church wide mission survey. If you did not fill out a paper survey last Sabbath you can get one from the kiosks in the lobbies or you can take our online survey by CLICKING HERE. On average the survey takes less than 3 minutes to fill out and is anonymous.

WHEN GOD’S PEOPLE PRAY: “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we asked of Him.” (1 John 5:14-15) It is a wonderful thing to have a friend praying for you! It is a wonderful thing to have a husband or wife praying for you! It is a wonderful thing to have a parent praying for you! It is a wonderful thing to have a son or daughter praying for their mom and dad! It is a wonderful thing to know that someone is praying for you! “We do not value the power and efficacy of prayer as we should. Prayer and faith will do what no power on earth can accomplish.” (Ministry of Healing, p. 509) WE WILL MEET AGAIN FOR PRAYER MEETING AFTER THE HOLIDAYS AND WEEK OF PRAYER.
COMMUNITY SERVICE: Colder temperatures are here! Time to break out the coats! Speaking of coats…the 403 Center is in need of men’s, women’s and children’s coats as well as warm blankets. The chill in the air can be difficult to handle without a warm coat or blanket. Thank you for remembering the 403 and those who receive assistance there, in your prayers. Happy Sabbath!
