Adopt a Grandparent is a program whereby students serve senior citizens and receive educational grants applied to tuition. The focus of this ministry is two pronged. It provides services and support to the home bound, while providing tuition money to those who have that need. 25 students are currently serving 60 seniors since September 2006 to continue through May 2008. Students receive $10 per hour for 3 to 6 to 9 hours per week.
The program is a dream of a social work professor and a benefactor who gifted the program with layers of commitments which MADISON CAMPUS CHURCH must make and meet. In 2006, the benefactor made available up to $60,000.00 in matching funds. The service is funded 80% by the benefactor of our “Caring Connection” social work outreach program. These funds are currently being used through May 2008. You can be part of helping to continue this service with a contribution to the “Adopt A Grandparent Scholarship Ministry”.Students who are 16 years of age or older may apply to become volunteers in the “Adopt-A-Grandparent” program and receive tuition grants to assist in education. If interested in this Scholarship Ministry, contact Gloria Sutherland at Madison Academy for more information and details as to how to participate.
